It's not just physical. According to my mom, our Westie, Kali, once ran from the other side of the house when my mom was in a very depressive mood. She kissed away the tears, looked up in her eyes and curled up in her lap. Mom has called her a guardian angel since then. Was it the sound... or the response to the emotion? :)

I know one thing is for sure...when I get sick my big Sam seems to pick up on something. His whole demeanor is a bit more relaxed and he seems to stay at my side, as long as he can bear! I taught him to get me a beer - now I just need to get him to get me the cough syrup...atta boy, Sam!
